The problem with bookmarks is that they have their own place that is only for bookmarks. It would be better if bookmarks would live in the same place tabs live.
It's like with pinned apps in Dock. Imagine if you couldn't pin apps in the Dock. Instead, there would be some separate place where all your pinned apps lived. That would be unusable.
Arc did something like that with pinned tabs, and I've heard multiple people say that it was the killer feature for them.
I've stopped closing tabs at some point and use them as a history.
Of course, I'm using the kind of browser that keeps your tabs as a horizontal list to the left, not as a ribbon at the top. New tabs appear at the top of the list and the bottom ones become history.
The main problem with browser history is that it doesn't remembers tab groups, which I use a lot. Not closing tab groups allows me to easily look up a topic I've been researching 3 months ago and see all of it's tabs.
Most of my opened tabs are waiting for a response or delivery; open support tickets, package tracking, etc. Those aren't unfinished decisions on my part but waiting on an action or response from others.
No, mine are just bookmarks that I keep open because I'm too lazy to organize bookmarks into groups and always want this set open. For work, it's deep linked nonsense that isn't bookmarkable. Because corporate.
Rarely, I'm researching something so it's in progress work - those get closed when I'm done.
