Remember when there were all these accusations of Russians creating Facebook memes during elections.
I said back then that it was just that - engagement farming. It was clear as day that some groups like this existed. Some groups just pushed affiliate links or selling t shirts (print on demand). It was just that. Even a little digging with critical thinking was making obvious if you were on the internet long enough.
The outrage economy is truly sizeable. I think we laugh about how much effort goes in to this, but once you have the factory, it doesnt take much to retool the lines......I can confidently state that there has been massive successful coordinated meme-wars since Kony 2012 and anonymous......PSN network takedown was the beginning of the end. It was when VCs and wall street started to let them affect them....and now we are almost 15 years into it and every time someone peeks up and says "hey look at X...." I am already starting on Alpha....because as soon as the articles are being written about the thing, the new thing is already started.....Polymarket bets....is part of the new thing....
