It is unfortunate that I must speak like this, but it will fascinating to see how accurate predictions like this will be.
What if it is 10 times this? I worry that as drastic an event that would be ignored in short order, the same way the excess deaths in 2020 where. Maybe it will be 10 times less. 45,000 people is still lots but certainly a better out come.
Stepping back further, not just because of this but also the blow back from a war moving into war mode, I do think that 2027 is going to be a fairly rough year in general. The era of a stable global order is crumbling and the further it goes the harder it will be to bring it back IF we can bring it back.
Agree - 10% of the figure is still a lot of people who would have been here, productive and loved and cared for by their families...
I always think of the compound nature of these things - e.g. this happening along side some major wars, potentially a global recession, then what happens if we get another mass virus or similar at the same time. Any one of those things we can cope with (maybe?) but if/when we pile them on top of each other...
Would the tone be different if these deaths were projected for Europe or North America or will it still be fascinating?
