There is many CLI tools to maintain update, yes you can just maintain all using a custom script, but this is a simple GUI for people that prefer that. Consider nowadays many people using CLI tools via agents, so they don’t really use the terminal that much.
Not the submitter, but this reminds me of a couple of apps that I test drove that have management features for Homebrew installs. I think the primary benefit was surfacing arcane functionality that would otherwise require a trip to the docs, but it's been a couple of years and my memory is thin. That use case makes sense to me. Replacing a simple `brew update` doesn't.

It does brew, but many more like self installed binaries, npm global, etc. Even App Store apps.
